A Wanganui Aero Club's ’plane on the return trip to Wanganui from Wellington on Saturday afternoon developed engine trouble, and the pilot, Mr. Fletcher, was obliged to land the ’plane on the beach about a mile along the Tangimoana s.ide of the Three Milo Creek. After notifying headquarters, Mi'- Fletcher returned to thf. plane and lie and his youthful companion built a huge fire on the beach and prepared to spend the night there. However, the weather was at its worst and as the .storm increased they were glad to get back in the cockpit and get what little ■ onifori they could there. Before daylight on Sunday morning Captain Lethbridge, of the Wanganui Club, and several more energetic members came to their assistance and among them they managed to bring the ’plane along the beach to the end of the road and from there it was taken by lorry flack to Wanganui. Personal Mr. and Mrs. A. D. Scott have returned from a visit to Inglewood. Mrs. m. |. Berkinshaw, who has been in indifferent health for some time, is at present following her doctor’s advice and indulging in a rest cure. Mr. and Mrs. A. It. Clark, of Kairanga, are spending a short holiday at the beach. Mr. and Mrs. G. .Marshall ancl family, of • i North, were their guests during the week-end.
