Win All Wimbledon Championships

Despite intermittent rain for the woman's final at Wimbledon, the crowd assembled in a queue twelve hours before the opening. Miss Marble (U.S.A.) defeated Miss Stammers (Britain), 6—2, 6—o. Miss Marble won the toss. She lost the first point, but thereafter she was unbeatably victorious, compelling Miss Stammers to assume the defensive throughout. The British representative won only 11 points in the second set and the match lasted for half an hour. The contestants were presented to Queen Mary. In the combined doubles semi-final Wilde and Miss Brown (Britain) defeated Cooke and Mrs. Fabyan (U.S.A.), 6—3, 7—5. In the final Riggs and Miss Marble defeated Wilde and Miss Brown, 9—7, 6—l. This match was played in a dritale. The Americans won against keen resistance. In the men’s doubles final Cooke and Riggs (U.S.A.) defeated Hare and Wilde (Britain), 6—3, 3—6, 6—3, 9—7. The Americans were confident throughout, excelling in placements and winning volleys and smashes. In the women's doubles final Mrs. Fabyan and Miss Marble (U.S.A.) defeated Miss Jacobs and Miss Yorks (U.S.A.), 6 —l, 6—o. Miss Marble reproduced her attacking game in all its genius, her opponents being outclassed in pace, placements and network. In the All-England Plate, McNeill defeated Vandeneynde, B—6, 6—2. Mrs. McKelvie defeated Miss Weiwers, 6—4, 4—6, 6—2.
