Mutton Values Steadier STORE SHEEP AT FIRM VALUES There was a steadier tone at the Feilding live stock sale yesterday when wether mutton values receded slightly. On the other hand, despite the large yarding, ewe values held fairly firm. Lamb was absorbed at schedule rates by freezing interests. Fat cattle failed to attract and the entries were rather light in quality. The offering of young run cattle found buyers willing to operate at prices showing a hardening ten- . dency. Fat Lambs. Beazer at 14s 6cl. Store Sheep. The market for store sheep was fairly steady with values round about late rates. Sales of wether lambs were recorded as follows: 107 at 10s 9d; 21 at Ss 6d; 160 on account D. W. Reid at 10s 6d; 13 at 13s; 30 at 9s 3d; 13 on account C. E. Wheeler at 13s 6d; 30 on account EL K. Breeding ewes: 78 2-th running with Romney rams at 29s 9d; 43 syr. running with Southdown rams at 15s 3d; 200 m.a. running with S.D. rams on account T. A. Very few blackface lambs were offered iu tho store pens and the sales made under the hammer were at firm prices. On account of E. M. Lloyd a line of 117 sold at 11s and a further 16 realised 9s Sd. W. McKenzie sold a pen of 14 at 11s Id. Pat Cattle. The fat cattle market was rather dull due to tho want of quality iu the offering. There were many passings as buyers would not bid up. Sales were made as follows: Cows, £4 2s 6d, £4 15s to £4 18s; Hereford cows, £G 10s to £7; heifers, £4 16s to £5 2s 6d. Run Cattle. A good deal of interest was taken in the run cattle offering and in this department values revealed a hardening tendency.
