Boxing
(To the Editor.) Sir, —What is wrong with our Manawatu Boxing Association? Last season this sporting executive rose to the occasion by supplying local patrons of the noble art with several good tournaments, but so far this season other associations are getting in before them on good attractive bouts that are offering. Surely this is not symbolic of Palmerston North progressiveness? Personally I don't think this somnia trouble is chronic but only a symptom that needs shaking off. Writing as a follower of boxing I know of three good local professionals in hard training, in J. McMahon, J. Collins and H. lteeves, besides a bunch of excellent amateurs. It is to be hoped that our association is not going to let local followers of boxing down, and be dependent on other associations for helping our boys. In such a time when health and physical fitness is so important immediate action is necessary.— I am, etc., “NOTE SED.”
