Mr. and Mrs. B. Taylor Welcomed Home

A very enjoyable “ tin-kettling” evening was held on Saturday night at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Taylor, to welcome them home to Pahiatua after their recent marriage. A large number of friends and fellowmembers of the Fire Brigade spent a happy evening in dancing, games and community singing. A very dainty supper was supplied by Mrs. Taylor. A competition was won by Mr. D. Berry. During supper, Mr. T. Morgan presented Mr. and Mrs. Taylor with a giant mystery parcel, which was opened, disclosing a giant potato masher—-an emblem of the fire brigade which is signed by married members and returned to the brigade. Mr. Lawry gave a few words of explanation, mentioning that tho masher had gone round most of the local firemen who had been married and had been inscribed by them. Mr. Lawry then presented Mr. and Mrs. Taylor with a beautiful beaten brass lire screen. Ho spoko of Mr. Taylor’s 4i years’ service with the brigade and hoped to see him attain 25 years with them. Mr. and Mrs. Taylor were then accorded musical honours. Mr. Taylor returned thanks on behalf of himself and his wife, and extended a cordial invitation to all to visit them in their new home.
