Oroua Croquet Club
SEASON OFFICIALLY OPENED A large number of members and friends assembled on Wednesday after noon for the official opening of the Oroua Croquet Club’s season. Mrs. Petrie, president of the club, received the guests, among whom were members of the Feilding Croquet Club. In a short speech, Mrs. Petrie welcomed the visitors and the new members, saying that the prospects for the season looked favourable. The president then asked Mrs. C. Aitken to play the first ball of the season through the hoop. Afternoon tea was served in the pavilion. During the afternoon, competitions were played, the following being successful competitors: — French: Mrs. Manning; runner-up, Mrs. Petrie. Golf: Mrs. Mason; runner-up, Mrs. Downer (Feilding Clud). Take-off: Mrs. Mitchell; runner-up, Mrs. Burne (Feilding Club). Aunt Sally: Mrs. Hoffmeister; runnerup, Mrs. Bridge.
