Dean Detton Beats Fat Meehan
COLOURFUL BOUT WITH RAPID ACTION Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, Last Night. In a bout marked by much clever wrestling and plenty of elbow jolta, drop kicks, head throws and flying tackles, Dean Detton, ex-heavyweight champion of the world, beat Pat Meehan, the Canadian, by one fall obtained with a jack-knife hold in the sixth round at the Wellington Town Hall to-night. It was a colourful bout from start to finish, and the rapid action greatly pleased the well-filled house. In a second professional bout over six rounds Anton Koolman (Wellington) beat Eddio Morley (Wairarapa) by a fall in the last round.
