Operatic Society’s Forthcoming Show
"THE BELLE OF NEW YORK" The public of Palmerston North will be pleased to learn that the Palmerston North Operatic Society has decided to produce early in September the wellknown comic opera, “The Belle of New York." This production will be in the hands of Mr. Stan Lawson, of Dunedin. The society has been fortunate in securing the services of Air. C. L. Alowlein, who is well known in local musical circles, as musical conductor. Air. Mowlem has already started rehearsals and everything is in readiness for a successful season. Rehearsals have been called for male chorus on Wednesday, August 3, at 7.30, and for ladies’ chorus oa Monday, August 8, at 8 p.m. at the society’s new rooms, old Fire Brigade Station, Cuba street. As there are still several vacancies in both sections and several principal parts to fill, it is hoped that intending members will turn up in full force at both these re hearsals.
