OHAKEA The June meeting was held in the hall last Tuesday, Mrs. B. Frecklington presiding over a fair attendance. The delegate to the Dominion conference (Mrs. W. Robinson) was handed the papers in connection with the conference. It was decided to hold a dance and card evening at the end of the [month and final arrangements were made for the birthday evening this : month. An interesting and instructive demonstration of hair-pin work was I given by Mrs. L. Koberstein, who was ; accorded a hearty vote of thanks. The competition for worked sugar-bag apron was won by Mrs. A. V. Matthews (senior) and Miss N. Capstick (junior). The bes.t bloom in ray garden was won by Mrs. Williams and Miss M. Trf-main (junior). The competitions were judged by Mrs. Florence, a •• .isitor. KOPANE Mrs. Russell presided at the June meeting which was held at Mrs. White’s residence. Despite the inclement weather there was a very fair attendance. Apologies woro received from Mrs. Morris and Mrs. Martin. Mrs. Morcom gave a very interesting and instructive demonstration on Italian quilting, which was keenly followed by all present. The competition for wood fibre flowers resulted: Mrs. Morris and Mrs. Glasgow equal 1, Mrs. Prentice 2, Mrs. Learmontk 3; juniors, Miss J. Glasgow I, Miss L. Russell 2; best bloom, Miss J. Glasgow I, Mrs. Learmontk and Mrs. Glasgow equal 2, Miss Boddy, Mrs. Prentice and Mrs. | White 3. The next meeting is to bo at Mrs. Lcarmonth’s residence, and the competition is to be shortbread from a given recipe.
