The opening shoot of the season was held on Wednesday night of last week, when there was a good attendance. The following scores weie registered: M. Rix 12S, L. Wilson 129, M. Wilson 131, O. Terry 122. O. Batchelar 129, L. Craw 111, F. Haley 127, R. Craw 135, D. Mcßrearty 133, G Merriman 133, T. Romley 130, R. Batchelar 116, A. Thembuth 132. H. Rix 134, J. Christensen 124, M. Cook 132. Garden Circle. Mrs J. McMahon was at home to members of the Garden Circle on Wednesday afternoon last, v’hen an enjoyable time was spent in competitions arranged by Mrs D. Currin. Songs were rendered by Mesdames Gretton and T. Lynch. Competition winners were Mesdames Terry, J. Lynch and Quarterly. A buffet afternoon tea was enjoyed, after which there was a walk around Mrs McMahon’s beautiful garden. Members were all given slips and plants to take home. Mrs D. Currin, on behalf of members, thanked Mrs McMahon for her hospitality. Among those present were Mesdames McMahon, Hillas, Gretton, Algie, J. Lynch, Quarterly, Bowler Snelling (Auckland), A. Currin, D. Currin, Terry, Gilliland, Moyes, A. Batchelar, Ballinger, T. Lynch, Mullins, and Miss Young. Institute members are reminded of the card afternoon on the second Wednesday to celebratg the seventh birthday of the Institute.
Mr ancl Mrs Snelling (Auckland) are the guests of Mr and Mrs Bowier. Mrs J- Batchelar has returned from Akaroa, where she was the guest of her daughter, Mrs J. Craw. Mr and Mrs Lynch have returned from a Lour of the King Country, Gisborne and Napier. Mr and Mrs Swenson and family have left the district and taken up their residence at the Hutt.
