DRAW FOR FIRST EVENT INTER-DOMINION TROTTING CHAMPIONSHIPS CHRISTCHURCH, April 4. For the first qualifying event, 1£ miles, of the inter-Dominion Trotting Championship, the following draw has been made: —

EASTER ENGAGEMENTS FOR TRENTHAM HORSES

With the exception of Arctic King, who is going south to Riccarton, Trentham horses will do their Easter racing at Tauherenikau and Feilding. Only a few horses at most, however, are likely to make the trip to Feilding, so that the centre should have a very powerful battery with which to face all-comers at Wairarapa (states the Post). T. R. George's apprentices will be mainly at Tauherenikau, but if any horses are sent from the stable to Feilding A. E. Bennet may accompany them to do some of the riding. R. C. Penman has transferred to Trentham, where ho has taken up quarters in J. Ayres' stable. He has a team of ten horses from Otaki, including Beau Gallante, Nightlass, Gay Hunting, Dame Flore and Tom Tom. The others are novices still to race. Nightlass is not actually back in work, but she ha/S made a good recovery from her breakdown, which robbed her of a certain victory at Trentham in January, and it is hoped that she will stand up to a further preparation. WHANGAREI MEETING The win and place system of betting will be used at the Whangarei Racing Club’s meeting on Friday and Saturday. As a result of his victory in the Hinuera Handicap at Matamata, Silver Eagle is now ineligible for the Trial Stakes, which is for horses that have not won a race at the time of starting. INTER-DOMINION TROTTING MEETING FIRST-DAY HANDICAPS Handicaps for the opening day, April 16, of the inter-Dominion trotting championship meeting are:—
