Values Ease for Fat Cattle COMPETITION KEEN From Our Own Correspondent. HASTINGS, Last Night, yuality was well featured at to-day’s ffering of fat cattle at Stortford Lodge, he entry being the best seen in the yard? for some months. In the yarding of 2P7 station-bred entries butchers were given a good selection, and values were down about £1 a head, or 2/- per lOOlbs. on last week’s rates. Competition was keen. The sale opened with a particularly fine draft of extra prime cows and heifers, offered on account Mr D. Douglas, of Poukawa. The cows, which had been solidly finished for some time, brought to £ll 2/6. The heifers represented some choice quality young beef, and made to £lO 10/-. Lighter weight heifers suitable for the summer trade made from £7 10/- to £8 5/-. Only a small percentage of the pens were of the klllable type, and for these butchers showed no interest. Fairly framed, light finished cows were difficult to trade up to £7 15/-. Th£ ox beef pens consisted of a draft of 45 light Aberdeen Angus cross 3£year bullocks from Rukumoana Station, which could have stood a good deal more weight’ but were killable, and ranged from £ll 10/- to £l2. HEIFER BATES. On account Mr D. Douglas, Poukawa, an entry of medium-framed, extra prime Aberdeen Angus heifers, which should kill out as choice young beef, sold to I£9 5/- with a single entry a little heavier making £lO 10/-. On account of the same vendor another prime quality pen of similarlybred heifers realised £lO 5/-. Three more equally well finished made £9 18/-. On account of Rukumoana Station, an entry of Aberdeen Angus-Hereford-cross heifers, prime finish and would average 6001b5., made to £lO. On account of Jowsey Estate, six small to medium-framed Aberdeen Angus heifers, in prime condition and ideal for the summer trade, sold to £8 5/-. COW BEEF RATES. On account Mr. D. Douglas, Poukawa, an entry of extra prime very solidly finished Aberdeen Angus cows, a most attractive entry of finished beef, which would average 700 lbs., sold from £lO 8/- to £ll 2/6. On account of the same vendor a further entry of extra prime cows, rather smaller in frame than the previous pen, made to £9 19/-. Two medium-framed Hereford cows, prime finished and would make 675 lbs., sold at £9 5/-. A well-framed heavy Shorthorn cow, light finished, made £lO 2/6. Three horned Hereford cows, fairly framed but a shade lighter than the previous pens made £9 2/-. On account Rukumoana, an entry of fairly-framed Aberdeen Angus cowd looking empty after being on the road for several days, but should kill out quite well, made to £8 2/6. Six horned Hereford cows in light condition but killable. made to £7 15/-,
