Kiwitea

From Our Own Corresponded For several years past, several sports clubs which have ceased their activities, have held considerable sums of money and as there appeared to be no prospect of their functioning again, ft was considered advisable that arangements should be made to put the money to some purpose that would benefit the district as a whole, and to this -end a large and representative meeting was held in the local hall on Monday evening. Mr Craine, who presided, gave a statement of the amounts in the respective accounts of the Wanderers’ Football Club, the Kiwitea Hockey and Football Ball account. Kiwitea Hockey Club. Kiwitea Tennis Club and the Kiwitea Tennis Court account. After some discussion it was decided that the Tennis Court account be credited with the funds of the other four, and used for the purpose of laying public courts. Following this decision, Mr W. H. Gibson generously offered to donate sufficient land, opposite the Kiwitea school for two courts, his offer being acknowledged by applause. The meeting then decided that a committee of twelve, with an executive of five, lie elected to raise further funds, and make arrangements preliminary to having the work carried out.
