Special Committee’s Report Of Miss Courtney’s Visit

The final meeting of the committee elected to make arrangements for Miss Kathleen Courtney's viVsit was held at the Y.W.C.A. club rooms yesterday Mrs. G. G. Priest, president of the Y.W.C.A. board, presiding. Associated with here were Mrs. G. C. Petersen (committee secretary) and Miss H. M. Saunders, Y.W.C.A. secretary. Also prcseDt were Mesdames C. A. Small (representing the Manawatu Country Club), H. B. Reid (League of Nations Union), Mrs. Briden Jones (All Saints' Mothers’ Union), Mrs. Cushing (Sunshine Club), Miss B. Kelly (Y.W.C.A. board), Miss C. Warburton (Business and Professional Women's Round Table Club), Miss Matheson (Women’s Division), Miss M. Grant (Women's Institutes).

Mrs*. Saunders briefly reported on the various meetings held, expressing appreciation of the manner in which the programme had been carried through and particularly of tko in* Spiration of the country women's meeting and that for secondary s(*i.ool children. Disappointment was expressed that the public meeting Leid not drawn a larger crowd. A statement of receipts and expenditure disclosed a credit of 2s 2d, which was considered quite satisfactory.

Miss Saunders reported that letters of thanks had gone forward from the board to Messrs. G. Tremaine (deputyMayor) and J. Murray (fector of the Boys' High School) for presiding at the meetings in the Opera House; to Mrs. T. Daley (Palmerston North branch of the League of Mothers), i\jr the loan of vases; to Mrs., W. F. Field and Miss Grant, for the country women’s co-operation, and to Mrs. Small for hospitality extended to Miss Courtney.

On behalf of the Y.W.C.A. board, Mrs. Priest asked the representatives present to convey to their organisation their deep thanks for help and cooperation. Miss Saunders added her tribute.

Mrs. Reid asked that other organisations be associated in the thanks to Mrs. Small for her part. Acknowledging this appreciation, Mrs. Small said she had felt it a pleasure and an honour to entertain this delightful visitor. The thanks of the committee were also conveyed by acclamation to Mrs. Petersen for her services as secretary and the committee was then dissolved.
