Mishap on a Bend

POLICE STOP LORRY While proceeding from Eketahuna to Masterton last Friday Mr. Gordon Willinghan, an insurance agent, residing in Eketahuna, was struck by a lorry when, driving his car. The accident occurred at the second bend from Eketahuna through the lorry cutting the corner, hitting Mr. Willinghan’s car and damaging the front axle, wheel and mudguard. The noise of the impact could, be heard for a considerable distance, but the lorry did not stop and continued without offering any assistance. Mr. Willingham was not injured and was picked up by a passing motorist, who brought him back to town, Where he informed the police. Through speedy police communication with Pahiatua, the lorry driver was intercepted between Woodville and Pahiatua.
