With the completion of this line there are no further extensions to hand. The linegangs are now concentrating on the overhauling of some of the existing lines. This work is long overdue. In the Pahiatua area tree cutting has been carried out at Mangamaire and Konini. The 5 k.v.a. transformer at Hewitt’s, Mangamaire, has been replaced with a 7i to provide for increased load, and the 7J at Jenson’s, Konini, replaced with a 10 k.v.a. A 20 k.v.a. 3300-volt transformer was erected at the old county crusher site at Hall’s road, to supply power for a 25 h.p. motor installed by the Main Highways Board. On the Mangamutu section of the 11 k.v, ring feed, a number of defective cross-arms were replaced. The power was cut off the 3300 volt circuit in Pahiatua on the sth for one hour, owing to a lightning arrestor breaking down and operating the automatic switcu at the sub-station. A bird flying on to a horn gap arrestor was responsible for an outage of fifteen minutes on the Ballance line on the 24th. In the Pahiatua borough a number of the existing service lines had to be reconstructed to give the regulation clearance over the P. and T. lines.

Eketahuna area: At Parkville poles have been reblocked, low tension wires re-regulated and a number of service lines reconstructed. An extra phase wire and alterations to service lines supplying Mr. Schorman’s residence were effected to give better service for range loading. Permanent repairs following the lorry collision with the main line pole at Hukanui were attended to on the night of the 20th; the opportunity was also taken to alter the h.t. fuses at the new Nireaha sub-station. The erection of the automatic switch gear instruments at this sub-station is almost completed. X hope to have tnern livened up and the load of the Nireaha district transferred from the Park, 'lie substation early in March. The power was off the Mauriceville circuit ou the morning of the 25th, to replace a broken jumper on the 11 k.v. tap off at Hastwells.
