Stock Sales

DISPERSAL SALE. The largest attendance for many years at a clearing sale was in evidence at Mr T. T. Bartlett’s sale held by the N.Z. Farmers’ Co-op. Distributing Co., Ltd. It was estimated that considerably over 500 people were present, buyers coming from all over the North Island, and the sale, which went with a swing from start to finish, eoncltded shortly after 5 p.m. Outside buyers secured a fair proportion of the stock. Some of the horses went as far afield as Porangahau on the East Coast, and practically all the cattle went to Wanganui and Taranaki. Some of the breeding ewes went as far south as Te Horo.

The top price for the latter was 32/4, while the top price of £B2 was paid by Shannon Bros, for a very nice 4-year mare with foal at foot, while Mr R. Christie, of Fordell, paid £sl for another mare of the same age also with foal at foot. A good upstanding 5-year gelding was purchased by Mr Geo. Lamp for £44. The dairy cows which were all in profit sold up to £6 and wcreall secured by a Wanganui buyer. .The 20-months dairy heifers realised £6 13s for the Jerseys and £5 10s for the Holsteins. These were all secured by Messrs Horden Bros., of Waverley. The implements and plant which were all in splendid order realised good prices.
