Butter for Canada
10,000 BOXES BY NIAGARA. AUCKLAND, Feb. 16. A consignment of 10,000 boxes, or about 250 tons, of butter, will leave Auckland for Canada on Tuesday by the liner Niagara, the shipment being the third big cargo to be exported to I Canada as a result of a serious shortage there. No further substantial exI ports are expected to be made from New Zealand. The Niagara’s consignment will bring the total to 1375 tons, and the three shipments should benefit ;New Zealand to the extent of more than £150,000 on current London quotations. I The first consignment, of 375 tons, was taken to Vancouver from Auckland ilast month by the liner Aorangi, and a record shipment of 750 tons, part of I which was loaded here, will deave Lyt- ; telton on Saturday for Halifax by the Surrey. Teh Niagara will reach Vancouver on March 11, but the Surrey I will not arrive at Halifax until some weeks later. By the time the Surrey’s shipment is landed spring production in Canada will probably be well able to meet all requirements, and although the Federal Line steamer Huntingdon will leave Wellington on March 22 for Halifax on her voyage to London it is likely that her Canadian cargo will largely comprise fruit.
