AUCKLAND BOARD’S VIEWS AUCKLAND, Feb. 16. Feelings of indignation and regret wore voiced by members of the Auckland Education Board this morning when instructions were received from the Education Department setting out its decision to provido additional flooi space in new classrooms. It was presumed that the decision was part of a suggested move towards providing 20 square feet of space for each child, a figure which one member characterised as extreme. Membcra considered that if there was money available other and more pressing needs should first be filled. The suggestions included the provision of houses for country teachers, the replacement of halls used as schools, expansion of country schools, and provision of assembly halls and swimming baths. It was left to tho chairman, Mr. T. U. Wells, and the secretary *to communicate to the department what suggestions they thought nt.
