Kimbolton Road Sealing Contract
WORK TO RESUME TO-DAY The normal procedure at the monthly meeting of the Kiwitea County Council yesterday was interrupted for some hours while the coiuncil deliberated in committee upon questions arising from the hold-up of the road sealing contract for that stretch of the Kimbolton highway between the township and Kiwitea. Owing to financial difficulties the contractors were unable to proceed. Subsequently tentative arrangements were made under a scheme which enabled the work to resume and quite recently a start was made with the laying of the first sealing coat. This work, however, came to a standstill ou Saturday and proceedings were held in abeyance until yesterday evening, while the council conferred with representatives of the debenture holders interested in the contractor’s i>lant, its solicitors, the council’s consulting engineer (Mr. 11. Sladden) and others. Following a lengthy conference a sub-committee was set up to further consider the matter and early last evening it was announced that arrangements had been completed to enable the work to rosume this morning.
