Obstruction of Political Speakers

(To the Editor.) Sir, —I believe the National Party will soon be shaking hands with themselves if the liberty of speech is going to be attacked in such a way as reported by the press at a meeting in South Dunedin, where Mr. Hargest, M.P., was unable to get a hearing owing to the violent interruptions of the opponents at this meeting. In Dunedin a fow years ago the same tactics were used against a strong Labour representative’s opponent, and the result was u defeat for Labour. Sane Labour will not stand for organised obstruction at meetings and should this state of hocliganism continue we can expect thousands drawn into the National Party’s camp.—l am, etc., WATCH DOG. Feilding, February 15.
