Government Control Of Banana Imports
INCREASED QUOTA FOR FOT Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, Feb. 15. It is announced that from May 1 the Dominion Government proposes to assume the sole marketing of all bananas from the Islands, including Fiji, imported into the Dominion. Fiji's quota will probably be increased. The Government will buy all fruit f.o.b. Suva at a price fixed by both Governments over a yearly period, with special shipments of Christmas fruit from FijiThe Dominion will accept the Fiji Agricultural Department’s certificate of quality. The innovation does not apply to mandarins and oranges.
