Slow Scoring in Senior Games

RAIN INTERFERES WITH PLAY

Weather conditions were not at their best for the resumption of the cricket competitions in Feilding on Saturday afternoon and well before time rain commenced to fall intermittently, but notwithstanding this play was continued until 0.30 p.m. The wickets were dull and pday generally slow in the senior games which are in an uncertain position.

On No. 1 w'ickct Old Boys met Feilding and batting first made 137, the principal run-getters being Finlay, Dewe, Wells, Brock and Smith. The “tali” managed to lift the score from out of tho ruck, but the batting elfort was generally disappointing. In reply Feilding had lost three wickets for 58 when time came, M. Buist and Donaldson being at the crease in the failing light. Oolyton wero disappointing in their opening effort against Public Service and wero dismissed for a total of 100 out of which M. Fitzherbert provided 20. Service fared badly in reply, but with eight wickets down for 92 still have a sporting chanco of equalising when the match resumes on 4“!aturday next.
