From Our Own Correspondent Golf. A pleasant afternoon was spent on Wednesday when nine members of the Feilding Club visited Rangiwahia. Unfortunately some of the matches were very late finishing but, allowing for the distance the visitors had to come, this was unavoidable. The ladies of the club served refreshments at the Clubhouse. The results of the games were:— Singles: T. Morgan beat Mofflt, N. Saywell beat Seifert, R. Tompkins beat Carthew, C. Saywell lost to McCorkindale, A. McCaskle lost, to Harding, F. Saywell beat Brown, J. Morgan lost to Darragh. P. Jewell beat Haybittle, W. E. Boshier halved with Sandbrook, Couper halved With Meads. Rangiwahia won 5, Feilding won 3,2 halved. Fourball: T. Morgan and N. Saywel. beat Moffit' and Seifert, Tompkins and C. Saywell halved with Carthew and McCorkindale, McCaskle and F. Saywell lost to Harding and Brown, J. Morgan and Jewell lost to Daragh' and Haybittle, W. Boshier and Couper beat Sandbrook and Meads. Rangiwahia won 2, Feilding won 2, one halved. Wairakei Defence Rifle Club. A match versus a team from Apiti was shot on Saturday and resulted in a win for the Wairakei men. The annual ball of the football club held on Thursday night was most successful In every way, and quite tho best dance hold locally for some time. Tho decorations were declared to be the prettiest ever seen in the hail and reflected great credit on those who were responsible and especially on those who had given so much time cutting tho papers There was a large crowd present and also a number of visitors from Apiti, Kimbolton. Waituna and Mangaweka districts. Tho supper, whilst of a new variety locally, proved very popular. Excellent music was supplied by a professional orchestra and dancing was continued well on into the early hours of tho morning. The senior football team was successful in winning the Beard Cup, when, on Saturday they successfully defeated x\piti by 25 points to five. The Apiti team, which arrived two men short, was unfortunate in losing another player soon after the commencement of the game. Scores for the winners were ade by M. Thompson (2), T. Beilski (2), G. Truan, H. Meads and H. Beiiski. For Apiti R. Webb scored and J. M.cKenzie converted. Mr. N. Amadio was In control of tho game. Hostesses for the Women's Institute meeting on Tuesday will be Mesdames Pettigrew, J. Morgan, Reilly and Misses P. Reilly and B. Morgan.
