Search for Wardrobe Murderer
BELIEVED TO HAVE BEEN IN DUNEDIN IN 1929. Per Press Association. . DUNEDIN, July 4. Relative to yesterday’s Sydney cablegram announcing that the man wanted in connection with the wardrobo murder was William Arthur Scott, a man of this name appeared in the Dunedin Police Court in October, 1929, charged with the theft of money totalling £4l from Margaret O’Connor, Auckland, and the theft of £9 10s from Herbert Edmond Davidson at Dunedin. Scott, whoso description as he appeared here, tallies with the description of the wanted man given by the Sydney police. Ho was described in Court as a young Englishman. Counsel stated that Scott’s parents wished him to return to England. The Court granted probation on condition that Scott made restitution and left the country, and although his later movements aro not definitely known it was believed he went to Australia.
