Octogenarian Killed by Train

SHOCKING TRAGEDY AT MOSGIEL Per Press Association. DUNEDIN, Last Night. A shocking accident occurred at Mos giei railway station yesterday aiternoon when au elderly woman niimeu Mrs. Jessie Renton, 80 years of age, fell between the platform and the 5.15 p.m. train for Dunedin and was kilted instantaneously. There were no witnesses to the accident but it is thought that Mrs. Renton, who had entered tne carnage to say goodbye to a friend, endeavoured to step from the carriage platform when the train began to move and fell on to the rails. The body was shockingly mutilated and identiiieation was possible only by the clothing of the deceased who was a widow and resided with her sister, Mrs. Robertson, of East Taieri. An inquest will be opened in the morning.
