Druids’ Lodge

INSTALLATION CEREMONY. The ‘ meeting held on Thursday last at the Mayfair hall was voted by one and all a huge success. A.D.* Bro. H. Fisher, Junr., was in the chair. One brother was reported on the sick list. A letter. was received regarding tho proposed Friendly Societies’ church parade at tlio Methodist Church, and it was favourably commented on, tho secretary being requested to write to Rev. Roberts in the matter. Clearance was accepted for a sister joining up with Pahiatua Lodge, and accounts amounting to £2O odd were passed for payment. Visitors wero present from Masterton, Dannevirke, Whangarci, Palmerston North, Terrace . End and Eketahuna; also in attendance wero the D.P. of the district, D.P. of No. 1, and P.G.P. Ero. Jackson (Palmerston North) and P.M.P. Bro. Bailey (late of Canterbury Grand Lodge). A hearty Druidic welcome was accorded to tho visiting officers and brethren.

The Stonehenge Lodgo (Masterton) officers then took charge, at tho request of tho A.D., and fulfilled the initiation ceremony in a most impressive manner, the orchestral effect being greatly appreciated and to the four new members the ceremony made a lasting impression. Much praise for the capable manner the presiding officers carried through their duties is duo to their M.C., ast Arch Bro. H. Horton.

At the conclusion of the ceremony, the Pahiatua officers again took the chairs. Complimentary remarks for tho able manner the Stonehenge Lodge officers fulfilled their respective chairs were given by the worthy A.D., Bro. H. Fisher, Junr., and wero endorsed by several local officers. Suitable thanks were returned by the A.D. of Stonehenge Lodge, also their D.P. Tho various visitors then returned thanks for kind invitations received and very able and instructive addresses were given by P.G.P. Bro. Bailey and P.G.P. Bro. Jackson. In the latter speaker’s remarks, most important references were mado tc tho Friendly Societies and the Government, also the dispensaries, and if space permitted, much could be written for the benefit of brethren concerned.

Dancing was then the order of the evening and Sister Z. Levy contributed two vocal items, whilo Bro. Husband (Myrtle Lodge) told humorous stories (when tho lights failed). Bro. Mills at. the piano, and his musical associates performed very capably during the evening. A bountiful supper was supplied and “Auld Lang Syne” terminated a memorable evening for the TJ.A.O.D. fraternity.
