Pohangina Valley

From Our Own Correspondent. On Saturday members of Colyton Cricket Club were visitors to Pohangina where they played a match against the local enthusiasts. The game, which was played on the domain playing area, resulted in a decisive win for the visitors oy nine wickets. Lunch and afternoon tea were served by the local ladies, and after the match Mr W. Power expressed the thanks of his team and appreciation of the hospitality shown them. Mr D. Spelman suitably replied stating that it luul always been a pleasure to meet tin* Colyton team. The game was interesting throughout, the greatest achievement of the day being W. Power’s hat trick at the close of Pohangina’s first innings which brought forth rounds of applause from spectators and players alike. Details of the game were as follows:

School Picnic. Tile local school children suffered a disappointment on Friday when in view of tlio unsettled state of the weather it was found advisable to postpone until the following week, the annual school picnic. The danco which was arranged for the evening, however, was held and proved most enjoyable. There was a very good attendance, the proceeds being in aid of a new school library. Mr Bramwell, of Feilding, supplied excellent music and supper was provided by the ladies.
