Mr and Mrs Halllgan, of Hastings, are the guests of Mr and Mrs W, Davies, Surprise Party. The members of the Lutheran Church congregation held a very enjoyable surprise party at the residence of Mr Edward Wischnowsky last week. The party was led by Rev. Te Punga, who at a suitable juncture spoke of the loyal service Mr Wischnowsky had rendered the church during the last, 14 or 15 years, aii of which time he had been a church warden. The members of the church felt that it was only right that Mr Wischnowsky should receive some tangible recognition of his services and on behalf of the church people he (Mr Te Punga) had much pleasure in asking their guest to accept a morris chair and cushion as a token of the esteem in which ho was held. Mr Wischnowsky feelingly replied. After supper, games and community singing were indulged in until a late hour. The party broke up with the singing of “Auld Lang Syne.”
