From Our Own Correspondent. The local tennis team 'tried conclusions with Carnarvon on Saturday afternoon. The weather was beautifully fi))e l .,bu.t tho courts were, not at their best owing to the heavy-'rain which l'ell'» earlier in . the week. JCarharvon. proved much superior, winningjby/iJ'U sets to 4" and 'l34•games to SB. Tlie-only player for Rongotea who won all her "games was the top lady,- .Miss G. Eades.'' The Rongotea ' team was "as follows: Misses G.- and J. Eades,- Mrs -W. Davison, Mrs. It.. Alien, Mrs it, Scott and Miss Anderson, Messrs R. Scott,' G. Baddeley, IC. Amies, ■ D. Hancox, W. Scott and J. Ciaasen. That keen interest is maintained in the club is evident by the’ number' of’ ladder matches paiyed recently.. i These include (the challenger’s name being mentioned first in each instance)'the following:'’Mrs M. Davison beat Miss A. Ciaasen 7—-6, It. Heeney beat G. Baddeley 7—4, Mrs M. Davison bet Miss'B. Aifd 7 —3, It. HCeney beat A.. C. Eades 7 —6, J, Ciaasen beat W. "Wallace 7 —3, IC. Amies beat G. Baddeley 7 —4, K. Amies beat A. C. Eades 7 —5, It. Heeney beat K. Allen 7 —3, R. Scott beat H. Becker 7 —4, Personal.' Mrs A. C. Eades has left to spend a holiday in Auckland. Miss Anderson is the guest of Mr and Mrs R. Allen, the School-house. Mr and Mrs It. Kearse and their small daughter Ray motored up from Petona to spend the week-end with Mr and Mrs Ronald Aird. Rev. W. J. Berry is spending a holiday In the South Island. Mr H. Bree, of Wellington, was a week-end visitor to Rongotea, being the guest of Constable and Mrs J. Kennedy. A Palmerston North firm has commenced tho painting of the Coronation Hall, a fact which is giving much pleasure to all as the building in its old state was nothing short of an eyesore.
