From Our Own Correspondent. Tennis. A very enjoyable tennis match was played here between jiopane A and Carnarvon A. The result of tho match was a draw, 12 sets each, but Carnarvon a won in games by 118 to 164. The following were the detailed results:— Mens singles: G. Goldfinch lost to R. Gioyn I—t), D. W. Scott beat Nix and Miss Hill G —s. Residents of the district will regret to hear that Miss Flavell, headmistress of the Ciydesdalo School, has been obliged to seek leave of absence owing to illness. Her friends will wish her a speedy recovery. Miss B. Scott, of the relieving stall of the Wanganui Education Board, has taken over the control of tho school pending Miks Flavell’s return. A decided acquisition to the local district is the extended motor service which now runs from Tangimoana daily to Palmerston North and return. The proprie-. tor is to be commended on his extension of the service and district residents will appreciate the favourable conditions the service provides. Personal.

Mrs N. N. Barron, of "Te Iwi,” Cunninghams, is visiting the district and at present is staying at “Clydesdale” with Mr and Mrs G. R. McKenzie. Miss Isabel Scott has returned from Palmerston North. Mrs Leighton Bull and her small son, of Hunterville, has been visiting Mr and Mrs R. D. McKenvie at “Pukemarama.’' Mr Ben Reeve has returned home from hospital in Palmerston North.
