KOPUTAROA. At the February meeting the president. Mrs Best, presided over a fair attend* ance. A wall competition, "Nurserj rhymes,” was won by Mrs Brown. The monthly competition was for the best collection of vegetables, the winners being: Senior, Mrs Heayns: junior. Miss D. Hood. During the social half hour a short play was presented by Mrs Lancaster and Miss Koberstein. The roll call was "A useful hint.” The bring and buy stall was in the charge of Mrs Koberstein. A dainty afternoon tea was served by the hostesses, Mesdames Heavey, Stratton and Harford. The singing of the National Anthem brought the meeting to a close. AWAHURI. At the February meeting Mrs Bond presided over a fair attendance. At the commencement of the meeting all members stood in silence as a mark of respect to the late King George V and then members were asked again to stand in silence for the late Mrs Crawford, who was a member of the Awahuri W.I. before she left to make her home in Walton. A letter was received from the executive asking that any cases of hardship as a result of the recent storm be reported to Miss Grant. Members were asked tu notify the secretary immediately. Final arrangements were made for the birthday on March 3 (evening). Members were reminded to take their potatoes to the next meeting. Mr J. H. Stevens, of Palmerston North, gave a' very interesting talk and was accorded a very hearty vote of thanks. The competitions for the afternoon were judged by Mr Stevens and resulted as follows: Flowers. Miss Pearce 1, Mrs Port 2, Miss D. Matthews 3; best and neatest afternoon tea for two people, Mrs Simpson 1, Mrs McCallum 2, Miss aßtes 3. The results of the baby show at the picnic were: 1 to 6 months, Mrs Stringer’s baby, “Alan” 1; 12-18 months, Mrs Terry’s 1, Mrs Woodroofe’s 2. The hostesses, Mesdames Woodroofe, Ward, Port and Miss Goulden, were accorded a hearty vote of thanks and the meeting was brought to a close with the singing of the National Anthem.
