Bride-to-be Happily Honoured
In view of her approaching marriage, Miss Betty Fannin was entertained on Friday evening at the homo of Mr and Mrs R. H. Billens, College street.
Mrs Billens received the guests wearing a frock of navy blue embossed crepe with powder blue trimmings, and was assisted by her daughters, Miss Ruth Billens (floral silk in tonings of black and scarlet) and Miss Myra Billens (coffee lace and burgundy velvet). The guest of honour was attired in floral silk in blue tonings with a little jacket of black spotted taffeta. Bridge provided pleasing entertainment for the guests during the evening. A delicious supper was served after which Mr Billens, in proposing the toast of the guest of honour, conveyed to her very best wishes for her future happiness and success, and on behalf of those present asked her to accept a set of crystal goblets as a small token of their esteem. After being accorded musical honours, Miss I 1 annin briefly returned thanks. Among those present were Mesdames Chas. Bennett (Auckland), Stace Bennett (Auckland), J. C. Young, Misses S. Fannin, D. Shannon, M. Ingley, P. Carber, P. Young, M. and B. Oakley, M. Currie, A. and E. Varcoe, B. Rogers, and Messrs E. J. Fannin and J. C. Young.
In view of her approaching marriage Miss Hilda Murdoch was again entertained at a gift afternoon at the Rosco tearooms on Saturday afternoon. Miss Jean Blackwood, the hostess, received the guest wearing a dusky pink suit trimmed with navy blue, while the guest of honour was attired in a brown and white striped ninon ensemble.
After the dainty afternoon tea was served, Miss Murdoch was called upon to open the many gifts for which she briefly returned thanks.
