From Our Own Correspondent. Farewell Evening. A farewell evening was tendered Misa L. Gore, who is leaving the district shortly. Memoers of the vVomen’s Bible Class and Ladies’ Guild, together with friends, gathered in the Anglican Parish Hall last week to bid her goodbye. During the evening several competitions were held. The prize winners were Mrs G. Turner, Miss E. Foot and Mrs Watt. Vocal items were rendered by Mrs Hewitt and Miss V. Hills. At a suitable interval Mrs W. G. Romley spoke a lew words on behalf of the ladies' guild, wishing Miss Goro better health and a happy future In calling on Mrs Goertz to present the guest of honour with a prayer book, Rev. Mr Goertz thanked Miss Gore for the great interest she had always taken in the church work, and wished her the best of luck, health and happiness in the near future. Miss Gore suitably replied and the evening closed with the singing of Auld Lang Syne. Personal and General. Mr and Mrs J. Grammer have left the Ashhurst district to take up their residence in Nelson. After having a wet month in January, local residents were looking forward to something better for February, but so far this month the weather has not shown any improvement.
