MANGAMUTU PLAY BALLANG'E On Wednesday afternoon a very enjoyable time was spent on the Mangamutu tennis courts, when ladies from the Ballanco and Mangamutu clubs played a match. Mangamutu proved the winners by 9 sets to 3 and 79 games to 83. Following are detailed scores, Mangamutu players being mentioned first: Singles: Mrs A. Morgan lost to Mrs McKenzie 5—7, Mrs W. Mr Badger has kindly donated two buttons for the ladies’ doubles, which will commence shortly. whose many good qualities had won him the esteem and respect of all who knew him. Mrs Morgan and Messrs E. Lett, L. J. Heayns, D. O’Brien, L. Hamilton, T. Burr and C. Davies also spoke in high tribute of the manner in which he had helped to build the club, the positiou of which reflected much credit on his zeal and interest. Mr Lawton, in rising to Teply, said he was leaving behind him happy memories, and even were he to join another club it would never be the same. In referring to the presentation made him, he said club members need not have done that to mark the occasion of his leaving the district, as he thought their good wishes, for which he thanked them, were all that was needed.
