\ From Our Own Correspondent. Tho W.D.F.U. lie-id its monthly meeting on Wednesday, there being present Mesdames F. B-. Lowes, W’iLton, U. Judd, J. Judd, J. Evans, C. Evans, E. Evans, O. Cooper, W. Whitaker, J. Mathes, C. Ramsay, W. White, C. I-lodgins, M. Castle, L. Eagle, W. Edwards, Misses R. White, B. Thompson and C. Evans. Mrs Matheson reported on tho meeting held by combined branches in Masterton recently. During the social part of the afternoon Mr F. White gave a very interesting address on tho Great Pyramid. The pyramid, lie said, had been described by some as “the Bible in stone.” The pyramids, of- which there wore many, were vastly- different and contained various inscriptions and tombs. They contained messages to all, especially scientists, and the writings,-paintings, etc., dated back thousands of years. The Great Pyramid, stated Mr White, existed 2000 years before Christ was born. Looking at it from a distanco, it resembled steps built of huge stones weighing up to GO tons. Originally these stones were covered with a beautifully polised limestone, -which was removed by the Mohamedans, w-ho used it for masks. Scientists to-day might be proud of tlicir science and laugh at such things as tho pyramids, but-they were really much beyond, the comprehension of -modern scientists and astronomers. The Great Pyramid covered an area of 13 acres.
