GERMANS GO HUNGRY TO PROVIDE ARMAMENTS Received Sunday, 9.40 p.m. LONDON, Sept. 29. The News-Chronicle’s Berlin correspondent says that while Dr. Schacht is painting a rosy picture ol' the German trade hoom, harassed housewives are unsuccessfully seeking butter, lard, pork and mutton. Even the price of sausages is soaring.
Dr. Goebbels is instituting a campaign to prove that Hitler’s armaments policy will eventually benefit the Germans more than high wages and abundant food, with the slogan, “Battleships arc more important than butter.”
