From Our Own Correspondent. A largo and enthusiastic meeting took place last week to set in motion preparations for tlie school jubilee which falls due early next year. Air A. B. .Shannon occupied the chair and about 70 others were present, while several others sent (apologies for non-attendance. Those present formed themselves into a committee to work for the event and various subcommittees were sot up such as reception, sports, grounds, ball, children’s, stock drive, ladies’ and queen carnival committees. It was agreed that tlie hall committco would co-operate with the general committee lor tho function. The honorary secretary appointed was Air 11. AV. AVood and the lion, treasurer Mr H. Brooke. It was decided to print a souvenir booklet, giving the history of the school district. These will be sold and there will also he rosettes with school colours, royal blue and grey. After discussing tlie matter fully tlie meeting decided to hold the celebrations on a Saturday towards the end of .March with a social in tho evening and a ball on the following .Monday night. Jt was thought that the week-end arrangement would suit those from a distance. The actual date of the opening of tlie school was April 19. J.BSG. but it is thought that better weather would probably favour tho function in .March. It was left to a sub-committee to arrange for a service on the Sunday afternoon in the school grounds. AViiile there is ample lime for most of tho committees to get busy, yet a good deal of time will be needed to get into touch with old pupils to whom a printed invitation will be sent.
