From Our Own Correspondent. Tho monthly meeting of the Women's Institute was held on Wednesday when Sirs A. Kinnimont presided over a fanattendance. Apologies were received from Mrs Bell and Miss V. Zurcher. After the usual business had been dealt with Mrs Fletcher, the Institute’s delegate, gave an interesting report on the recent Dominion Conference held at Auckland. A talk on her expediences in Samoa was given by Mrs Penketli, of Palmerston North. The speaker related several amusing anecdotes in connection v/ith her trip and also showed a number of inetresting articles made bv the natives. At the conclusion of her address the speaker-was accorded a hearty vote of thanks. The winners of a competition for the best pine-needle-basket were Mrs Holland 1, Mrs Mabey 2, and Miss P. Johnston 3. A coconut ice competition was won by Mrs Mabey 1 and 3 and Mrs Holland 2. A bring and buy slall was held, the proceeds to be forwarded to the federation fund. Afternoon tea was served by . the hostesses, Mesdames Chamberlain and Mabey. A euchre party was held at the Anglican Ohilrch Social room on Tuesday evening, the winners being as follow: Ladies, Mrs Chamberlain 1, Mrs Grace 2; men, Mr Hills 1, Mr X. Mabey 2. Mr and Mrs E. Lemberge have been louring the North Island. Mr N. Clark is on annual leave, and with Mrs Clark is spending a holiday with friends in Auckland. Mrs Kelley, of New Plymouth, lias been visiting her sister, Mrs W. Weddell. The members of the school committee Were well to the. fore in attending to the various essentials in connection with the school ball, those assisting in this direction being Messrs J. Callesen - (chairman), E. Lemberg (secretary), J. C. Mahoney (treasurer), W. Weddell and W. Wilson. The following- were the scores in a match
