Business Girls Meet at Luncheon

The Business Girls’ Club met for it 3 fortnightly luncheon at Messrs. Collinson and Cunninghame’s yesterday, when Miss M. Penketh presided. Vases of jonquils adorned the table. The speaker was Mrs F. W. Christian, who took as her subject, “Elizabeth Fry.” Mrs Christian dealt with tho life of this remarkable woman in an interesting manner, mentioning her work in connection with prisons, and then hospitals anad libraries. She pointed out how Elizabeth Fry was always working for tho betterment of people’s minds. “Elizabeth Fry has always been to mo a great heroine,” said tho speaker in concluding. “To mo she is ono of the most important women in the last 150 years, and if she could do so much in those days and under tho conditions which then existed, there is still a tremendous lot women can do in these

days. ’ ’ The vote of thanks was moved by Miss Penketh and warmly carried.
