50,000 Deaths in Quetta
RELIEF FUND OPENED United Press Association.—By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright. CALCUTTA, Juno 5. Relief funds have been openM throughout India. The Viceroy’s fund totals £11,346. i It is officially estimated that the earthquake casualties iu the State of Kalat number 30,000, of whom 24,000 are dead. This brings tho total deathroll at Quetta and Kalat to 50,000. The labour corps’ search for possible survivors of tho and the recovery of property had to be suspended owing to tho appalling stench of the thousands of decomposed bodies. Quetta has now been completely evacuated and is surrounded by a cordon of troops. Tho British military women and children survivors are leaving Karachi by steamer for England. i Relief Fund Opened Throughout India CALCUTTA, June 5.
