German Editors Suspended

Twenty German editors have been suspended becauso they printed a letter from the Catholic Archbishop of B elau pleading on behalf of the nu is and priests arrested for alleged currency speculation. Archbishop’s Explanation Received Thursday, 9.50 p.m. BERLIN, Juno 0. Thirty more editors, making fifty iu all, were dismissed for publishing without appending tho official explanation the recent declaration of Dr. Bertram, Archbishop of Breslau, pleading on behalf of the monks and nuns imprisoned for breaches of the currency laws. Archbishop Bertram, replying to the attacks in tho Nazi Press, says he did not intend to criticise tho verdicts but sought clemency. The church also condemns the crime against the State and people and would after the conclusion of the criminal proceedings deal with those concerned according to canonical law.
