Cox (Addington) headed tlioso who qualified with a score qf, 68, 67—135. Then came Jarman, 67, 71 13S; Padgham, 72, 67 —139; Burton, 74, 65 — 139; Cotton,. 70, 69 —139; Compston, 72, 68—140. Others include Delatore, 71, 71 —142; Green, 70, 73 —143; Busson, 75, 6S—--143; E. Whitcombc, 73, 70 —143; Jolly, 72, 71 —143; Cox (Saffron Walden), 69, 74 —143; Robertson, 78, 66 —144; Davies, 72, 73 —145; Alliss, 73, 72 — 145; R. Whitcombe, 75, 72 —147. The only notable player who did not qualify was Dailey, who tore up his card.
Astonishing Golf R. Burton (Hooton) played astonishing golf, his card reading: Out 34, in 31. It was almost entirely due to brilliant approaches, which left him few putts of any length. Ho holed a full niblick at the second for a 2. His card included seven 3’s and only one
. Padgham went out in 31 but had two bad holes on the homeward journey. He hit colossal drives and almost reached the green at tho fourth, which measures 328 yards, uphill.
