Boy’s Cruel Hoax

AVhilo Georgo Goodermain dived fully-dressed eight times into the river Gipping, at IpsAvich, in an effort to save two littlo boys, tho boys themselves Avere safe at home. Police dragged the river for trvo hours boforo it was discovered that there jvas no tragedy. Air Goodermain, a stoker, heard screams from tho river bank, and Avith a workmate named Scolding, who could not swim, rushed to the river. There an eight-year-old boy told them that Tom Polly aged four, and Billy King, aged three, had fallen into the river.

After futile rescue efforts police Avere sent to the houses of tho tAvo boys to break the sad news, and were told that the . children had not been near the river.
