A meeting of tho rifle, club was Hold on Monday night, Mr. J. Smith, president, being in tho chair. It was decided that tho Collinson Challenge Cup be awarded to the highest average shot in inter-club shoots throughout tho season. A lengthy discussion took plaiie on the subject of lighting for the target box, a sub-committee being appointed to enquire into this, with a view to alterations. Mr. AV. R. I-lopcroft formally presented tlio I-lopcroft Shield to tho club and a committee was elected to draw up rules governing thes liieid competitions. Members expressed appreciation of Mr. Hopcroft’s generosity in presenting the shield and to his interest in rifle shooting. A hearty vote of thanks to tlie cfOfior and sons, was carried by acclamation. A very interesting motion picture film, dealing with life and missionary work in Melanesia was shown by Mr. Long in the hall on Wednesday evening last, when there was a fair attendance. Tho film was shown under the auspices of the Church of England Melanesian Mission Society. Rev. F. O. Bali introduced Mr. Long,"who has been an active missionary in India for several years, and at the close of the entertainment, Mr. Hopcrolt on behalf of the Aokautero Committee, thanked the visitor for his interesting lecture.
