From Our Own Correspondent, Sports Club.

.There was a good attendance at a wind-up meeting of tho Sandon Sports Club. Tho president, Mr. 11. J. Fagan, presided. A" communication was received from the Levin District High School asking for the official placings in tho McKelvie Shield events and congratulating the officials of the club on their efficient organisation. Mr. D. G. Warner, head teacher of tho Kopane school, wrote on behalf-of the teachers in the district expressing their thanks for tho arrangements made at the sports. Mr. Warner stated that he had always In the past made some recommendations to the club but had nothing to put forward this year. He thanked the club for the consideration given to -the suggestions made' in the past. Mr. J, M. Croucher, chief steward at : the sports, wrote congratulating the club officials on the way they "ad performed their duties. .He personally wished to thank Messrs. J. H. .Smith, W. J. Jenkins, A, Kilpatrick and E. N. Butler for 'their assistance. Mr. Croucher aso congratulated tlio starter, Mr. C. Eglinton, and. tho secretary, Mr. S. L. Orr, 'on tho way they carried out their duties. ; _ The secretary presented a- financial statement showing the receipts and expenditure, which disclosed a profit on the meeting of £ls lSs -Id. The club’s credit in the bank now stands at £33 Ils 3cl. ’ Mr. Orr in his remarks stated that the gate takings show.cd an .increase of £8 •is. Members subscriptions and donations were increased by £4 Us as compared with last year. Tho club had acted wisely in sending out members’ tickets. ■ The chairman, Mr. H. J. Fagan, stated that tho sports wore tho most success-:, ful ever held and it was very nice to liav’e a credit of £l6. Ho said the club' was gaining ground each year and it now appeared that it was in a position to further extend its programme. Messrs/ A. K. Drew and C. Eglinton endorsed tho remarks of Mr. Fagan. Various suggestions were made ' by members to further improve tho sports next year, each suggestion being noted. The secretary advised that Mr. F. 1 S Collier had donated tho trophy won Iby him. A letter is to bo sent to Mr. Collier thanking him for his generous action. A motion of sympathy was passed expressing tho club’s regret at the entry to a private hospital in Palmerston North of Mr. Winston Drew. It was decided to forward a letter of appreciation to Mr. Jim Davey_for his assistance to the secretary on tlfo day of the sport. Before concluding UlO meeting, the chairman congratulated tho members on the good feeling at the meeting, stating that it was tho best meeting he had ever attended. Mr. Fagan said ho was pleased to have the privilege of presiding over sucli a broad minded and able lot of members and congratulated the officials on tho efficient way they had performed their duties on tho day of tho sports. Miniature Rifles. The weekly shoot of the Sandon Miniature Rifle Club was held on Monday evening. The standard of shooting failed to produce tho usual number of points. Three of the members were absent, attending the Wellington Provincial championships. Messrs. J. C. Fagan, Roy Lumsden, Eric Lumsden and G. Richardson registered single possibles, Messrs. Fagan and Richardson registering OS’s in their second shoot, making them equal for first honours. Tho following are the detailed results of tho evening's shoot.— J. C. Fagan 70,'68, 13S; G. Interest is well maintained in the Ping Pong Club, there being a good attendance at Saturday evening’s practice.
