Building New Ships
BRITISH YARDS BUSY United Press Association.—By Eleetrio Telegraph.—Copyright. LOn DON, Nov. 19. The Daily Express says that ship owners, faced with the most terrific competition in maritime history, ate ordering more new ships for tho Empire routes than ever. Forty-two passenger and cargo vessels, modelled on the latest designs, are on tho stocks in British yards, and orders for 12 more are likely to be placed before March. Orders placed in the past year mean £10,000,000 for British shipbuilders and work for 50,000 artisans. The fact means that ship owners have concluded that this is (he only method of fighting further inroads by foreign-owned vessels.
