Gift Evening at Carnarvon
A very happy evening was recently spent by the residents of Carnarvon and district wheu tho guest of honour was Aliss AVinnie Rose, daughter of Air and Airs E. J. Rose, in view of her approaching marriage. There were between 60 and 70 people present aud •the residence of Air and Airs AV. Burnc was admirably suited to the occasion, a thoroughly enjoyable time being spent by all. The spacious billiards room was cleared for dancing aud cards were played in the drawing-room. Alusic, games and dancing were indulged in until a late hour, and those present will long remember the occasion. Aliss Rose looked charming in a pretty frock of blue floral ninon, and at a suitable juncture Air Douglas Burne, who referred to her many sterling qualities, uslccd her to accept the numerous useful gifts as a token of the esteem in which she was held by the whole district. Air Rose suitably returned thanks ou behalf of his daughter and also expressed his appreciation of the kind action of Air and Airs Burne for the use of their home. A really enjoyable function was brought to a close with cheers and the singing of “Auld Lang Syne.”
