A PLAIN CHRISTAIAS CAKE To make a really economical cake, take fib, flour, lOoz, butter, Goz. castor sugar, two teaspoonsful baking powder, 2oz. each of currants, raisins, sultanas and mixed peel, quarter teaspoonful mixed spice, four eggs and two tablespoons milk. Lino a tin with buttered paper. Boat tho butter and sugar to a cream, adcj tho well-whipped yolks of the eggs and beat until evenly mixed. Next boat in the fruit, then the i'louv mixed with tho spico and baking powder. Add the whipped wffiites of the eggs and the milk, and beat to a smooth batter. Turn into tho prepared tin and bake in a moderate oven for about an hour.
