MEAT .FOR BRITAIN. The New Zealand Meat Producers’ Board is advised by cable from its London office that the shipments from Australia and South America to the United Kingdom during the month of October were as follows:—Australia: Mutton carcases, 54,325; lamb carcases, 421,760; beef (frozen) quarters, 43,685. South America: Mutton carcases, 4473; lamb carcases, 405,192; beef (frozen) quarters, 2774; (chilled) quarters, 448,373. The shipments from New Zealand to the United Kingdom for the same period were as follows: —Mutton carcases, 90,154; lamb carcases, 92,256; beef (frozen) quarters, 43,720.

DOLLAR AND STERLING. LONDON, Nov. 17. Sterling exchange, London on New York, 4.D9 dollars.

The original par value of the United States dollar with sterling is 4.86 2-3 dolla’rs, but sinco February 1, 1934, when the dollar was devalued, par value is 8.23 31-32. LOW IRATE TOR MONEY. (British Official Wireless.) RUGBY, Nov. 16. Tho total amount applied for in £35,000,000 of Treasury bills was £41,875,000. Tho amount allotted in bills at threo months was £31,167,000. The average rate per cent, was 4/9.46, as compared with 5/2.65 one week ago. Tenders will be received next week for Treasury bills to tho maximum amount of £40,000,000.
